Our Wedding Videographer - Manis DV Studio
Here is another key item that no one should miss out on for their wedding. Videography. Because just like photography, this will be all that you have left of your wedding after the day is over.
When I was looking for a videographer, I didn't know where to start. Then Sapex from Ministry of Moment asked me to check out CST Production. Of course, familiar feelings re-surfaced. I want them!! But then, sadly, when I got their reply in my inbox I found out that they already had a booking.
So, back to square one. Again I spent days searching online. Until, tadaa!! I stumbled across Manis DV Studio located in JB. We spent an entire evening in front of the computer checking out all the videos on their blog. And yes, yes, yes! We wanted him! So, just like our photographer we met up with Sulaiman of Manis DV Studio last weekend to confirm our booking. He showed us a full video of a wedding and there was nothing more we could ask for. I was like: "Here! Take the money! You're recording our wedding!" Hehe..
So yes, we have our wedding videographer. Check out the video above to see his work and if you want to see more, you can always head to his blog.

Our Wedding Photographers - FotoKahwin.com

When we first started scouting for wedding related stuff last year, we stumbled across Candid Syndrome at a wedding fair. And with Saiful Nang's work, there was no denying that we were in l-o-v-e. His work is truly superb. The companies name speaks for itself: candid photography that captures the most beautiful moments. But, yes there is a but, good photographers come with a price. And Saiful's price was way out of our budget. So we looked at our second option, Sapex. A junior photographer with Candid Syndrome. But then, Sapex left Candid Syndrome and started his own wedding photography company: Ministry of Moment. Just as we were about to confirm Ministry of Moment as our official wedding photographers, we realized that we would have to pay for their traveling expenses, accomodations and even per diems. So once again, we were left without a photographer because of the steep additional costs.
Then, just as we were about to give up, I bought another copy of Pesona Pengantin. And as though they were sent from God, we found FotoKahwin.com in that issue. I checked out their site and saw photography just as good as Candid Syndrome's and Ministry of Moment's. And better still, they are based in JB so that meant I would be able to shave off the whole travel expenses etc from their pricing. Of course I then called them up right away and set an appointment with them. We then met them in JB and we instantly knew that they would be able to deliver the kind of wedding photography that we wanted.
Last weekend, we met with Rushdi of FotoKahwin.com and duely paid our deposit for their services. Yippee!! We've got a photographer!!
Pictured above, is a collage of their work that I made from some shots that I downloaded from their blog. So for all you Johorians that want candid/photojournalism styled wedding photography, do check out FotoKahwin.com's website.

Falling Behind

Oh dear.. I've been slacking. Falling behind. It's not that we haven't been doing anything; it's actually been the complete opposite. Since we got back from JB (where we celebrated Raya this year) we've been running around all over the place. To Masjid India. Then to Klang. Then back to Masjid India. Then back to Klang again. Then to Jalan TAR. Then here, then there. It's been so all over the place that my home has become a hotel. I only head back there to shower and sleep. But Alhamdulillah, I think we have managed to sort ourselves out now.
I'll now start the task of updating the blog.
Bit by bit.

Up & Downs of Wedding Planning

So many things have transpired over the last couple of weeks. Some good, some bad. I lost the designer that was supposed to do my baju kurung for our akad nikah. That was definitely bad.
On the brightside:
- 2 weeks ago we met with Jendela Impian who'll be working on our pelamin based on the design we gave them. Her artist impression of it came out great but we do need to work on the budget with her a little..
- We headed down to Nilai 3 last Saturday to hunt for wedding stuff and we ended up spending 5hours there. It's bridal deco heaven over there!!
- Part II of last weekend's marathon brought us back to Masjid India on Sunday. It was so packed. Especially since we arrived there shortly after buka puasa..
- This week, darling Jacky passed me Syaiful Baharim's contact. I'll be calling him this afternoon to set an appointment. Yey!
So yes, please let things keep looking bright!

Wedding Disasters
Mayday! Mayday! I just got word from my designer a couple of days ago that she won't be able to do my 'baju' for the Akad Nikah. This means I need a Plan B.
With 4 months to go before the wedding, this is REALLY bad timing. Ok. Sister said to keep the stress levels in check. So I'll try to do exactly that. Will try to stay calm and source for another designer. Oh God, the timeline!!
On the bright side though, we're leaving for JB tonight. We've got 3 appointments in JB tomorrow. 1 appointment with the bridal house that will be doing the arrangements for our Akad Nikah ceremony and 2 other appointments with 2 different photographers. Mari kita lihat siapa yang menang!!

Coffee Table Photobook

Photography for your wedding can cause one of the biggest dents in your wallet or crack in your credit card (whichever you prefer). But even though the photography for the big day can get expensive, don't get too stingy. Memories of your big day will fade with time but photos last a lifetime. Yes, I know, this sounds cheesy and cliché. But really, it's true.
So for those of you who are on a tight budget for photopgraphy, here's a little tip for you.
In April, I was cracking my head as to what I could buy for my mum's birthday when it occured to me that all her childhood photos etc were all left unorganized in a box. Then I had an 'Ahah!' moment and decided to carefully scan all her photos and get her a digitalized photobook. All I needed to do was a little D-I-Y.
What I'm trying to say here is; what increases the cost of most photographers is the production cost of the photobook. So instead of having to pay your photographer the full package price of say RM1500 (photographer & photobook), you might be able to slash down the photographers cost for your wedding to RM800 (photographer only) by declining their photography and photobook packages. Settle for only the photopgrapher. Then all you need to do is be patient. Wait until you've recovered financially from your wedding and head to one of these cool sites listed below and Tada! You've got a photobook that will immortalize your wedding memories.
Here are a couple of local photobook websites that I found online.
What these sites offer, is the convenience of creating your own coffee table book from the comfort of your own home or office (wherever it is you may be). Both websites are extremely user friendly. But in a nutshell, all you need to do is:
1. Register yourself as a user with either website.
2. Download the photobook editor.
3. Select your choice of photobook.
4. Upload your selected photos onto the photobook editor and personalize your layout by editing the photos, inserting captions and even changing the backgrounds.
5. Upload your final photobook design onto photobook.com.my/prinzworks.com
6. Make the payment
7. Finished photobook will be delivered to your doorstep.
Good luck!
ps. For those of you who are wondering.. No, I didn't get my mum the photobook cos I ended up getting her a new handbag. Not that I didn't want to get her that photobook, it's just that she needed the handbag more. The photobook for my mum remains on my to-do-list ;)
